Established in the year 2011-12, the Department of Political Science has rehashed its syllabus in response to the demands of globalization and market demands. Thrust areas include E-governance, Human Rights, Constitution & constitutionalism, Environmental Studies, Regional Studies, Governance & International Studies.
To inculcate democratic, secular values and leadership qualities so that young minds will grow into good citizens, capable of accepting responsibility for nation-building and the overall development of society.
| Eligibility | The students who have successfully completed a three-year Arts degree course BA (Bachelor of Arts) with a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate at the degree level are eligible to apply. However, a relaxation of 5% of marks for SC/ST/Cat-I will be allowed as per prevailing rules of the University and Government Orders issued from time to time. |

| Scope | MA (Master of Arts) is a two-year Professional Master Degree in Political Science. The objective behind MA is to equip students with the latest Knowledge of Academic and Professional aptitude. |

| Eligibility | Candidates who have secured at least 55% of aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/Cat-1/Physically challenged) or equivalent grade under grading system, in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from the recognized Universities/Institutions. |

The department regularly conducts activities such as awareness programs, induction and orientation programs, workshops, and special lectures.
A Mock Parliamentary Session was organised in the Higher Primary Government Kannada Medium School, Bhutaramanahatti, by the PG students and research scholars.
An academic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Political Science, Rani Channamma University, and Venudhwani 90.4 FM Community Radio Station, KLE University.
A special lecture was organized by the NSS cell and the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in association with the Department of Political Science on 26/11/2022 on the occasion of National Constitution Day.
