Rani Channamma University, Belagavi
The Dept. of Studies and Research in Marathi was established in the year 1982 in the erstwhile Belgavi P.G. Centre of Karnatak University, Dharwad. Presently, the Department is one of the full-fledged Departments in the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. The Department has four well-qualified teaching faculty members. The faculty members are proud to place on record that some of them are the recipients of various prestigious awards. The Department is well-equipped with library and Computer facilities. Now for the convenience of the students, the department has been relocated to Rani Parvati Devi College, Belagavi.
To establish itself as an advanced and model Department for Comparative Research in the field of Kannada-Marathi language and literature as well as expected to play a leadership role for learning, higher education and comparative research in North Karnataka, Goa & Maharashtra border providing the excellent opportunities for higher education to the students.
| Scope | M. A. in Marathi is a two year master degree programme. The objectives of this programme are to equip the students not only with an in depth knowledge of Language & Literature but also with various skills like Communication, Creative Writing, Translation, writing skills for Print & Electronic Media etc. and also with research abilities to meet the ever growing challenges of modern multimedia world. |

| Eligibility | Candidate who possess any degree like B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.B.A., B.C.A. B.S.W. etc. of this University or any other recognized University in the state or other state; who has completed his education from 1st std. to 10th std. in Marathi medium, having at least 45% of marks in aggregate at degree level is eligible to apply. However, relaxation of 5% of marks in respect of SC/ST/Cat-I will be allowed as per prevailing rules of the University and Government Orders from time to time. |

| Eligibility | 1. Any Candidate who has obtained a Post-Graduate Degree from a
recognised University including foreign students (sponsored by their
Embassies) and sponsored candidates securing not less than 55% marks at
the Post-Graduate Degree shall be eligible to apply for the Ph.D.
Degree Programme. 2. In the case of SC/ST/Cat-I/Physically challenged candidates, and those who are appointed on regular basis prior to March 31, 1992 as teachers, librarians and physical education personnel in college & University Departments, the minimum marks shall be 50% provided they (i.e. employees) are continuing in service at the time of submission of application for registration. 3. If the results of Master’s Degree are declared in the form of grades/credits/cumulative points in their marks cards/transcripts, such grades/points shall be converted into percentage to assess the minimum eligibility criteria as specified above. |

| Programme Duration | Every full time candidate shall take a minimum of three years and maximum of five years and every part time candidate shall take a minimum of four years and a maximum of six years from the date of Provisional Registration (i.e. from the date of commencement of course work) to submit his/her thesis. However, in the case of the women candidates and person with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of two years for Ph.D. in the maximum duration. In addition, the women candidates may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave once in the entire duration of Ph.D. for up to 240 days. |
