Initially, 272 colleges were transferred from its parent institution, Karnatak University, Dharwad. The College Development Council (CDC) of Rani Channamma University began its affiliation process in the academic year 2011-12 and has successfully completed the affiliation process for nine academic years up to 2019-20. The affiliation work for the 2020-21 academic year is in progress. Since the transfer of 272 colleges from Karnatak University, Dharwad, the university has granted affiliation to approximately 117 new colleges of various types from the academic year 2011-12 to 2019-20. With one constituent college and three autonomous colleges, the university now has a total of 389 affiliated colleges, making it one of the largest universities in Karnataka in terms of the number of affiliated colleges and fulfilling the higher education needs of the people in the North Karnataka districts of Belagavi, Vijayapura, and Bagalkot.
Our university is fulfilling the ambitious goal of providing global-standard higher education to students from academically backward and border districts. Overall, Rani Channamma University is responding to the educational demands of students in the border region by implementing new schemes year after year. In addition, applications for various types of affiliation are received from different societies/institutions/trusts/colleges, and action is taken according to the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000, to grant affiliation. Furthermore, the CDC facilitates the process for colleges to obtain 2(f) and 12(B) recognition and handles proposals submitted to the UGC, along with other activities aimed at the fundamental and academic development of the colleges.
