College Development Council (CDC)

1. ABOUT THE CDC

The College Development Council (CDC) serves as the primary developmental and regulatory link between the University, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the State Government of Karnataka. The Council acts as a statutory policy-making body that guides affiliated colleges in achieving academic excellence, securing research funding, and maintaining institutional discipline in accordance with the Karnataka State Universities Act. CDC’s current jurisdiction focuses exclusively on the academic and infrastructural governance of colleges within the Belagavi and Vijayapura districts.

2. CORE FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• a) Affiliation Management: Processing of Fresh, Renewal, and Permanent affiliation for Undergraduate and Postgraduate colleges within Belagavi and Vijayapura.
• b) UGC Liaison: Assisting institutions in obtaining 2(f) and 12(B) status and coordinating various developmental grants.
• c) Quality Monitoring: Organizing Local Inquiry Committees (LIC) to inspect and evaluate college infrastructure, faculty strength, and academic standards annually and conducting periodic quality reviews.
• d) Academic Guidance: Implementation of the Education Policy and ensuring curriculum compliance across all affiliated institutions.
• e) College Development Initiatives: CDC envisages and conducts various programmes for the overall development of the affiliated colleges and its staff.
