Roles and Responsibilities of RTI Cell

• Receiving applications submitted under RTI Act 2005 Section 6(1) seeking information and forwarding the said applications to the concerned State Public Information Officer (SPIO) for disposal under Section 7(1) of RTI Act 2005.
• Taking action regarding appeals submitted under RTI Act 2005 Section 19(1).
• Preparing and publishing information regarding the organization, functions, and duties of the University on the website from time to time as per RTI Act 2005 Section 4(1)(a) and 4(1)(b).
• Designating State Public Information Officers under Section 5(1) and Assistant State Public Information Officers under Section 5(2) of RTI Act 2005 and publishing the same on the University website.
• Maintaining the register of RTI applications. Providing appropriate assistance to applicants to obtain information under RTI Act 2005.

Roles and Responsibilities of Legal Unit

• The Legal Unit of Rani Channamma University has been functioning since 2014 and looks after all legal matters related to the University.
• Responsible for handling cases filed and pending in the High Court of Karnataka (Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi Benches) and District and Taluk Courts related to the University.
• Advocates are appointed on Legal Empanelment in the University. These advocates represent the University in the High Court of Karnataka (Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi Benches) and District and Taluk Courts.
• Vakalatnama is issued to the advocates on the Legal Empanelment of RCU to represent cases filed against Rani Channamma University in courts. Documents related to the case and para-wise remarks are sent.
