The department was started in the year 2016.
The Department aims to contribute to society by imparting a dynamic flair for writing, a creative bent of mind, adeptness in photo and video editing, as well as innovative and professional use of mass media. The expansion and increasing competition among players in the media industry, along with promising careers in Journalism and various other avenues, have created considerable scope for Journalism in India. The vision of the department is to empower young minds to achieve excellence and to disseminate value-based information for nation-building.
This post-graduate JMC program will help students develop into ethical, well-rounded, responsible, and talented professionals who can manage and lead media organizations using analytical, innovative, creative, and out-of-the-box approaches. The program’s objective is to produce graduates with knowledge in Journalism and Mass Communication, preparing them to be leaders in the Media and Mass Communication sectors.
The objective of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is to teach students about media and communication using a mix of theory and practice. Its goal is to support ethical news reporting, encourage students to use critical thinking, and promote community awareness. The department supports students by helping them explore new technologies, be creative, and get prepared for jobs in print, broadcast, internet, public relations, and advertising. It also encourages participation in the local community by teaching people about media.
