Key Accomplishments and Milestones

🏆 National Recognition

Our University received the ‘Emerging University Award’ during the National Geospatial Awards 2025-Edition 2. This award is an initiative of the FOSSEE (GIS) project, IIT Bombay, which is organized under the aegis of the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), Ministry of Education, Government of India. With this national award, a plethora of FOSSEE GIS (NMEICT) project benefits have been opened up to our Constituent/Affiliated Colleges, Faculty, and students.

🚀 PM-USHA Transformation Grant

Rani Channamma University has been sanctioned a transformation grant of 100 Crore under the PM-USHA scheme in 2024 by the State & Central Government in the ratio of 60:40. This generous allocation has enabled us to enhance our infrastructure, improve academic resources, and support cutting-edge research across various disciplines. This substantial support is being utilized in multiple key areas to elevate the university’s stature:

  • A sum of 68 crores is allocated for the construction and to improve physical infrastructure, ensuring that our students and faculty have access to modern, world-class facilities.
  • Additionally, 31 crores are allocated for acquiring state-of-the-art scientific research equipment, enhancing our capacity for advanced research and innovation.
  • 02 crores will be utilized for implementation of the 44 soft components, including training and capacity-building programs.
  • 43 Projects worth around Rs. 40 lakhs have been sanctioned to our faculty members by the PMEB under the umbrella of PM-USHA. We are confident that this support will drive the continued growth and success of our university.

🏗️ New Campus Progress

We are pleased to share the progress on our new campus. As per the action plan of PM-USHA, a research block, buildings for School of Languages and Study Chairs are being constructed in our new campus. Our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah sir inaugurated the works of these buildings by laying the foundation stone on 4th October 2025.

📚 PM-USHA Soft Components

Under the umbrella of PM-USHA soft components, various high-impact programmes were successfully organized, including:

  • An MoU with IIT Mumbai-Spoken Tutorial.
  • A Workshop on the Implementation of NCRF and CBCS & Implementation of elective Courses System.
  • A Workshop on Internship/Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program.
  • Orientation for students to pursue higher education in STEM subjects.
  • A 7-day Self Defence training for girls.
  • Alumni Meet focused on NET/SET & Competitive examination coaching.
  • Workshops on soft skills, leadership and communication development , and research practices and patent filing.
  • Workshops addressing social issues such as mental health issues among girls and digital literacy for girls , and Access to healthcare facilities for girls in rural areas.
  • Workshops promoting digital safety, like the one on Cyber Security in Digital Age.
  • Workshops fostering inclusive education: Bridging Inequality: Education as a tool for Social change , and the Multidisciplinary Education Programme at Undergraduate Level.
  • Awareness and Sensitization on Menstrual Health and Hygiene.
  • A One Day Workshop on Indian Knowledge System.
  • We also conducted various types of skill training programmes for postgraduate final year students by special trainers, focusing on instilling self-awareness and self-confidence, developing communication skills and emotional intelligence, strengthening critical and creative thinking skills, and skills for practical employability and career readiness.

💼 Entrepreneurship and Special Examinations

We are proud to announce the establishment of RCU-FOUNDATION FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLING AND MANAGEMENT ACADEMIA (RCU-FESMA). This is a Section 8 not-for-profit organization established in collaboration with Deshpande Foundation, Hubballi, committed to entrepreneurship promotion, skill development and capacity building in management.

🏅 Sports Achievements and Global Collaborations

  • It’s a matter of pride to share that our University hosted the South Zone Inter University Kabaddi Men’s Championship at Ramdurg from 4th to 7th Oct 2025, in association with GFGC, Ramdurg and Dept. of Collegiate Education. A staggering 137 teams from 5 states (Karnataka, Kerala, TN, Telangana, AP) have participated , with 1800 Kabaddi players, 70 officials, 100 volunteers, and 5000 spectators participating.
  • Our University has 29 active MoUs , among which 6 have been signed with foreign Universities, namely:

    • Inti University, Malaysia
    • Bridgewater State University, USA
    • Universidad de Tarapaca, Arica- Chile

🏛️ Study Chair Initiatives

Our prominent Study Chairs have been highly active in promoting research and knowledge dissemination:

  • The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Study Chair has conducted 45 special lectures in various affiliated colleges and taken up other key initiatives:
    • The printing of the translation version of 3 books—namely, ‘Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Ko Jano’, ‘Rashtriya Smarak Dhanakya’, and ‘Mahan Darshanik’—is under progress.
    • The AI video preparation of four speeches by Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya is under process.
    • The books i) "Kalarakoppa – Sanskruti Mattu Parampare", ii) "Halli Sogadu", and iii) "Deendayal's Speeches" were under progress.
    • The AI-generated video about Kittur Rani Channamma’s life and history was created and uploaded on YouTube.
  • The Dr B.R. Ambedkar Study Chair has conducted special lectures on profound topics: “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Nation Building”, “Locating Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in Contemporary Politics”, and “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Political Thoughts”.

📊 Accreditation and Audits

  • Our IQAC will be submitting the 4th and final AQAR in this December.
  • We are currently gearing up for the 2nd cycle of NAAC accreditation, for which the preparation of the SSR to be submitted by September 2026 is in progress. In this regard, the Internal and External Academic and Administrative Audits have been conducted recently.

🎉 Staff Welfare and Celebrations

  • Our University Teachers’ Association and the Non-Teaching Employees’ Association are working actively for the welfare of the staff. Recently, they conducted the annual sports for both teaching and non-teaching staff, where all the staff members participated enthusiastically.
  • The Women’s Day was celebrated in our Ladies hostel, and 11 women achievers in and outside the University were felicitated.

💰 Financial Support for Scholars

  • In the financial year 2025-26, till now Rs. 15,17,250/- and Rs.74,000/- have been spent from the University’s internal resource towards EBL of PG students and thesis submission expenses of full-time PhD scholars respectively.
  • Under the SCP/TSP programme, Rs.3,60,000/- has been spent towards a monthly scholarship of Rs. 10,000 to the full-time PhD scholars belonging to the SC/ST category.

💡 Skill Development and Internships

A total of 100 students from the Department, along with students from Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College and other affiliated colleges, have successfully registered under the IIT Mumbai Internship Programme. This collaboration with IIT Mumbai aims to promote open-source learning, skill development, and hands-on training in Geospatial Technology and Remote Sensing Applications.

🌍 Social Responsibility and Outreach

Efficient Functioning of the NSS Unit

We are pleased to report that our NSS Unit is functioning very efficiently. Their significant activities reflect a strong commitment to youth development and social service:

  • We organized a District Level ‘Vikasit Bharat Youth Parliament’ on 21st and 22nd March 2025.
  • A National Integration Camp was organized from 19th to 25th May 2025 at Morarji Desai Residential School, Halabhavi, in association with the Department of Tribal Welfare, Belagavi. Volunteers from five states participated in the camp.
  • NSS Programme Officers and volunteers of Rani Channamma University participated in the National Integration Camp-2025 organized by the Regional Directorate of NSS Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • Ten Volunteers participated in an NIC camp Held at Bhuvaneshwar and achieved notable success, earning the third prize in cultural competitions and the first prize in Swachata Hi Seva Competition.
  • Two Volunteers have been awarded as Best NSS Volunteers at the State Level.
  • A University Level Pre-RD Selection Camp was held on 29th August 2025, and Four NSS Volunteers have been selected for the State Republic Day Parade Camp -2026.
  • 5 Volunteers from our University participated in an Inter-State Youth Exchange Program in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
  • Essential community awareness programs, such as Blood Donation Camps, Awareness on Drug Abuses, Road Safety, Aids Awareness, World Environment Day, etc., were organized at all affiliated colleges of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.
  • Innovative programmes like the adoption of Government Schools for inculcating Socio-Cultural values among children by each NSS Unit has been taken up.
Community Engagement

We are never behind in delivering our social responsibilities. Our outreach efforts are a testament to our commitment to the wider community:

  • The University has adopted a village named Bambarga in the vicinity of its campus, with the aim to educate and empower local communities to enhance their standard of living.
  • Furthermore, Yoga and health training camps, and health check-up camps for University staff have been conducted.

🌟 Achievements of Faculty and Staff

It is a matter of joy to share the achievements of our teaching faculty and administrative staff. Their dedication is driving the University's reputation:

  • Research Funding: Resources have been generated by the teaching faculty through sponsored research projects which have added value to their research and technology development. The teaching faculties of different departments have in hand projects worth nearly 1.4 crores sanctioned from various funding agencies.
  • Faculty Awards and Honours: Several faculty members have received prestigious national and international recognition:
    • Prof. Shivanand Gornale has been conferred with the ‘Era Asian Research Excellence Award 2025’ by the Einstein Research Academy, Puducherry. He has also been honoured with the ‘Excellence in Forensic Research and Publications Award 2025’ by Applied Forensic Research Sciences, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.
    • Dr. Chandrakant Koligudde has been recognized with National Awards, namely, ‘Nayak Shikshak Sannaman, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Adharash Sannaman and Gandhi Perana Sannaman’ for the year 2025, by The Fair Vision Foundation New Delhi.
    • Dr. Basavaraj Bagade has received the ‘National Geospatial Emerging Faculty Award’ from the Ministry of Education (MHRD) and IIT Mumbai. He also received the ‘Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Excellence Award’ from the Telangana Intellectual Forum for Excellence in Education and Research.
    • Dr. Devata D Gasti received the Best Paper Presenter Award by the Bali Business School, Indonesia in February 2025, and secured the Best Paper Presenter Award in the 4th International Conference on Innovative Research and Development (ICIRD-2025) by Shinawatra University, Thailand in March, 2025. She is also recognized with the Best Teacher Award by Giants Group Belagavi (Main) in Sept 2025.
  • Patents and Publications:
    • Dr. T. R. Arunkumar has been granted and published a patent titled ‘A Convolutional Neural Network-based System for the Recognition and Voice Alert of Traffic Sign Boards’.
    • Many of our teachers have published research papers which have been indexed in Scopus.
  • Career Advancement: A total of 17 teaching faculty have been promoted under CAS (Career Advancement Scheme). This includes 3 as Senior Asst Professors, 10 as Associate Professors, 1 as Professor and 3 as Senior Professors.

🏆 Student Excellence and Intellectual Enrichment

Sports and Competitive Achievements

Our students have consistently made us proud with their achievements:

  • At the All India Inter University Competitions, our University representatives have won 1 silver medal in Athletics, 1 silver medal in Pencak Silat, 1 gold medal in Judo, 1 bronze medal in Taekwondo, and 1 bronze medal in Best Physique competition.
  • With this stellar performance, 14 students have qualified in the 4th edition of Khelo India University Games , which are on-going in Rajasthan from 24/11/9025 to 4/12/2025.
  • Notably, our students and research scholars are qualifying the fellowship and eligibility tests in good numbers. They have cleared NET-JRF, NET and KSET and have also been appointed in Banks, Civil Service, and as Assistant Professors in Government colleges.

Various Academic, Gymkhana & Cultural Activities were organized, providing invaluable exposure to our students and faculty.
