1. ABOUT PMEB

Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board (PMEB) at Rani Channamma University, Belagavi plays a vital role in envisioning, initiating and executing innovative and need-based academic programs, research projects, consultancy services, and extension activities of the University.

In addition, it has also been aiding the University authorities in developing a strategic roadmap to enable the University to bloom into an institution of higher learning par excellence.

Further, the Board has also been providing active leadership in developing academic and administrative framework by preparing drafts of various Policies, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, Rules and Guidelines and submitting them to the University for approval and implementation.

2. VISION & MISSION

Vision

Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board (PMEB) will be a catalyst that initiates and navigates innovative and need-based academic programmes, research and development projects, consultancy services and extension activities in order to elevate Rani Channamma University to a vibrant, multidisciplinary, and inclusive academic space.

Mission

  • Propose need-based academic courses in order to raise the quality of education to a higher level;
  • Foster a spirit of research and innovation by encouraging the faculty and students to engage in continuous research and development programmes;
  • Encourage interdisciplinary activities that promote a sense of intellectual partnership and responsibility;
  • Facilitate collaboration and interaction with outside agencies for training, extension and research; and
  • Monitor and review from time to time the implementation of the programmes and activities formulated by the board.

3. MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

PMEB has played an important role in the following:

  • Planning, processing and awarding of Minor Research Projects to forty-six faculty members of the University;
  • Preparation and implementation of ‘Guidelines for Utilization of Research and Development Grants’ for ensuring decentralized and effective implementation of Research and Development (R&D) projects in the University;
  • Preparation and implementation of the ‘Guidelines for Providing Financial Support to Teachers of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi’ for providing the framework for inviting proposals, sanctioning the projects, providing the financial support, and evaluating the effectiveness of the projects at the University;
  • Adoption of UGC’s Guidance document on ‘Good Academic Research Practices (GRAP)’ at the University;
  • Initiative to introduce and implement National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP) at the University;
  • Adoption of Ten Government Schools within the jurisdiction of the University for ensuring their integrated development;
  • Distributed spectacles in adopted schools of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi;
  • Establishment of Office of Research Integrity (ORI) in keeping with UGC’s Guidance document on ‘Good Academic Research Practices (GRAP)’ at the University;
  • Starting of Add-on Courses that improve the employability and competencies of the students of the University; and
  • Adoption of UGC’s ‘Research and Publication Ethics’ (RPE) in the Doctoral Programme of the University.
  • Two Days Workshop on Research and Publication Ethics organized by PMEB in collaboration with Dept. of Library & Information Science.
  • Currently 16 faculty are doing interdisciplinary Research Projects.

4. NATURE OF THE ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

  • Conceptualization and initiation to introduce innovative and need-based academic programs;
  • Grooming the faculty to envision, apply and implement cutting-edge research projects;
  • Providing consultancy services to deserving individuals, organizations and communities based on the core competencies of the faculty;
  • Carrying out extension activities in order to mitigate social problems and to bring about integrated development within the jurisdiction of the University;
  • Assisting the University authorities in developing a perspective plan and strategic roadmap; and
  • Supporting the University in its endeavour to establish the academic and administrative framework that is both enabling and ethically responsive.
