Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Board (PMEB)

The Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Board (PMEB) is a vital statutory body of the University, established in accordance with the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000. It plays a crucial role in the strategic development and quality assurance of the University. The PMEB is responsible for advising the Academic Council and the Syndicate on all matters related to planning and development.

Vision:

To be a proactive and dynamic body that guides Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, towards achieving excellence in higher education, research, and community engagement through strategic planning, continuous monitoring, and rigorous evaluation.

Mission:
  • To formulate long-term and short-term development plans for the University.
  • To monitor the implementation of academic and administrative policies.
  • To evaluate the performance of various departments and programs.
  • To ensure the optimal utilization of University resources.
  • To promote a culture of quality and accountability.
  • To prepare the perspective plan for the development of the University.
  • To recommend the annual plan and budget proposals.
  • To monitor the progress of all developmental activities.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and research projects.
  • To suggest measures for the improvement of the overall performance of the University.
  • Advising on the establishment of new departments, courses, and research centers.
  • Reviewing the existing academic and administrative structure.
  • Formulating guidelines for quality assurance and enhancement.
  • Conducting periodic academic and administrative audits.
  • Liaising with funding agencies and other stakeholders for resource mobilization.

Nature of the Activities Undertaken
  • Conceptualization and initiation to introduce innovative and need-based academic programs;
  • Grooming the faculty to envision, apply and implement cutting-edge research projects;
  • Providing consultancy services to deserving individuals, organizations and communities based on the core competencies of the faculty;
  • Carrying out extension activities in order to mitigate social problems and to bring about integrated development within the jurisdiction of the University;
  • Assisting the University authorities in developing a perspective plan and strategic roadmap; and
  • Supporting the University in its endeavour to establish the academic and administrative framework that is both enabling and ethically responsive.
Major Achievements

PMEB has played an important role in the following:

  • Planning, processing and awarding of Minor Research Projects to forty-six faculty members of the University;
  • Preparation and implementation of ‘Guidelines for Utilization of Research and Development Grants’ for ensuring decentralized and effective implementation of Research and Development (R&D) projects in the University;
  • Preparation and implementation of the ‘Guidelines for Providing Finical Support to Teachers of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi’ for providing the framework for inviting proposals, sanctioning the projects, providing the financial support, and evaluating the effectiveness of the projects at the University;
  • Adoption of UGC’s Guidance document on ‘Good Academic Research Practices (GRAP)’ at the University;
  • Initiative to introduce and implement National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP) at the University;
  • Adoption of Ten Government Schools within the jurisdiction of the University for ensuring their integrated development;
  • Establishment of Office of Research Integrity (ORI) in keeping with UGC’s Guidance document on ‘Good Academic Research Practices (GRAP)’ at the University;
  • Starting of Add-on Courses that improve the employability and competencies of the students of the University; and
  • Adoption of UGC’s ‘Research and Publication Ethics’ (RPE) in the Doctoral Programme of the University.
