1. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL


The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of Kitturu Rani Channamma University was established in 2013 under the visionary leadership of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. R. Ananthan. Since its inception, the Cell has been committed to promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, and holistic development among women students and employees of the University.

The Cell serves as a dynamic platform for women to enhance their knowledge, leadership skills, confidence, and social awareness. It encourages active participation in academic, cultural, literary, and community-oriented activities while fostering an environment of dignity, equality, and mutual respect. Through awareness programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and support services, the Cell strives to empower women to become confident, responsible, and socially conscious citizens. It expands horizons of knowledge by developing themselves as a new voice and solid approach to current affairs.

2. VISION & MISSION


Vision

  1. To open up to the new age of progress by coming out of stereotyped mind-set through giving more emphasis on women's self-dependence in the globalised and technological era.
  2. To develop introspection, self-esteem, and self-prosperity. By coming out of dependency, gender discrimination, and inequality moving towards imprinting the self-identity the cell helps to take steps to reach specific aim.
  3. To write a new definition of the progress by not moving backwards affected by social disparities and strengthening women educationally for the progress of talent resource and women's potentiality.

Mission

  1. Empowering women through education, self-reliance, and leadership in a rapidly evolving global and technological society.
  2. Encouraging women to become creative, confident, independent, and active contributors to society.
  3. Promoting Self-awareness, Self-esteem, and personal growth by overcoming Dependency, Gender discrimination, and Social Inequality.
  4. Strengthening women's educational and professional capabilities, enabling them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.
  5. Creating an environment where women can enjoy their constitutional rights, uphold their responsibilities, and lead lives of dignity, equality, and social justice.

3. GUIDELINES AND OPPORTUNITIES


  1. Train, mentor, and counsel women to excel in academic, professional, and public life with confidence and self-respect.
  2. Create awareness on issues such as gender inequality, female foeticide, malnutrition, illiteracy, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dowry, acid attacks, human trafficking, and harmful social practices.
  3. Foster a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environment based on equality, human values, and mutual respect.
  4. Encourage women's participation in leadership, decision-making, entrepreneurship, and community service.
  5. Provide opportunities for personal development, networking, and capacity building through seminars, workshops, and outreach programmes.

4. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Organizing awareness programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences, symposiums, quizzes, and competitions on health, legal rights, gender equality, and social issues.
  2. Conducting self-defence training, yoga sessions, health camps, counselling services, and wellness programmes.
  3. Working in coordination with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to address grievances and promote a safe and respectful campus environment.
  4. Promoting gender sensitization and takes proactive measures to prevent discrimination, harassment, and exploitation in the workplace and on campus.
  5. Organizing personality development, leadership development, employability, and skill enhancement programmes.
  6. Celebrating International Women's Day and other significant national and international events related to women's empowerment.
  7. Promoting constitutional values, gender justice, and equal opportunities for all women in the University community.
