Brahmaputra and Krishna Hostels play a vital role in supporting students’ academic and personal development by providing a safe, comfortable, and disciplined residential environment. The hostel facilities within the university campus offer accommodation to students from diverse social, cultural, and geographical backgrounds, thereby promoting inclusiveness and social interaction. Well-maintained hostels with essential amenities such as furnished rooms, dining facilities, study areas, internet connectivity, library access, medical facilities, a physical fitness centre, and 24/7 security services create a conducive atmosphere for learning and the holistic development of students in higher education. By fostering a sense of community, cooperation, and responsibility among students, university hostels contribute significantly to inclusive education and campus life.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure the overall administration and smooth functioning of the hostel.
  • To maintain discipline, order, and a conducive academic environment within the hostel premises.
  • To supervise hostel staff and coordinate with caretakers, security personnel, and service providers.
  • To address students’ grievances and take appropriate action as per university rules.
  • To ensure adherence to hostel rules and regulations by residents.
  • To oversee cleanliness, hygiene, food quality, and maintenance of hostel facilities.
  • To conduct regular meetings with hostel residents and staff.
  • To ensure student safety and welfare, including emergency preparedness.
  • To maintain records related to hostel admissions, attendance, and discipline.

  • To assist the warden in the day-to-day management of hostel operations.
  • To supervise cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of rooms, common areas, and utilities.
  • To monitor the functioning of dining/mess facilities and report issues promptly.
  • To maintain inventory of hostel assets and report damages or repair needs.
  • To ensure timely availability of water, electricity, and other essential services.
  • To support students in resolving routine accommodation-related issues.
  • To report discipline-related matters to the hostel warden.

  • To provide basic medical care and first aid to hostel residents.
  • To conduct regular health check-ups and medical consultations.
  • To attend to medical emergencies and refer students to hospitals when required.
  • To maintain medical records of hostel residents.
  • To create awareness about hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare.
  • To advise hostel authorities on health and sanitation standards.
  • To support mental and emotional well-being through guidance and referrals, if needed.

  • To ensure the safety and security of hostel residents and hostel property.
  • To regulate entry and exit of students, staff, and visitors as per hostel rules.
  • To maintain visitor registers and conduct identity verification.
  • To conduct regular patrols within and around the hostel premises.
  • To prevent unauthorized access and handle security-related incidents promptly.
  • To respond to emergencies such as fire, medical, or law-and-order situations.
  • To coordinate with the hostel warden and local authorities when necessary.

  • To manage the day-to-day operations of the Physical Fitness Centre.
  • To guide students in the proper and safe use of fitness equipment.
  • To design and supervise basic fitness, exercise, and wellness programs for students.
  • To ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance of the fitness centre and equipment.
  • To monitor students during workouts and prevent injuries or misuse of equipment.
  • To maintain attendance records and usage schedules of the fitness centre.
  • To ensure adherence to safety norms and fitness centre rules by users.
  • To coordinate with medical staff in case of health emergencies or fitness-related concerns.

Details of Amenities of the Hostel


  • The hostel has a total of 100 student residential rooms. Each room is furnished with a table, chair, cot, and ceiling fan.
  • A mess facility is available to provide food to students. Morning breakfast, afternoon lunch, and night dinner are served regularly. Special meals are provided on festival occasions.
  • The hostel subscribes to three Kannada newspapers, namely Vijaya Karnataka, Prajavani, and Samyukta Karnataka, and one English newspaper, Times of India, for the benefit of students.
  • Round-the-clock (24 hours) water supply is available in the hostel.
  • LCD television and Tata Sky cable network facilities are provided for students’ recreation and entertainment.
  • In view of students’ health and well-being, free medical care and basic medicines are provided to hostel residents.
  • KSRTC bus facility is provided for the convenience of hostel students.
  • A flag pole is provided in the hostel premises for the purpose of flag hoisting on national and institutional occasions.
  • Volleyball and throwball courts are provided to encourage sports and cultural activities among students and to promote their overall development.
  • Hot water facilities and a drinking water purification unit are available in the hostel.
  • Each student is provided with a cot, bed, and bed sheets.
  • Internet facility is provided for hostel students to support academic activities.
  • In view of students’ health and well-being physical fitness centre is provided.
  • All rooms are equipped with Internet Wi-Fi connectivity
