The Department of Business Administration is a new addition to the Rani Channamma University with its inception in the year 2011. At present PG Department of Business Administration has six affiliated colleges, spread across Belagavi and Bagalakote districts. The students’ profile is largely rural and semi urban form the districts of North Karnataka and also few from neighboring states of Maharashtra and Goa. Though initially the course was run with a set of guest faculty, the speedy efforts of our dynamic Founder Vice Chancellor Prof. B. R. Ananthan resulted in the recruitment of a team of seven qualified and competent faculty members under the chairmanship of Prof. Prof. S. C. Patil, the Department has expertise of two more Prof.C M Thyagaraja. And Dr. N Maruti Rao. (Deputed to PG Center Vijayapur. The Department has a blend of young talented Assistant Professors viz., Dr. Mahantesh M Kuri, Dr. Devaraju and Dr. D. Goutam. All the three Assistant Professor have pursued their Ph.D Degrees with their dedicated efforts. Dr. Mahantesh M Kuri, Dr. Devaraju are awarded with major research project by ICSSR, New Delhi. The Department has intake of 60 students per year and students from rural and backward families are perusing higher education in the Department of Business Administration. The Department has adopted Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from 2015-16 to provide better learning and outcomes to enhance employability and responsibility.
The Vision of the Department is to become an innovative learning center by developing excellent human resources with leadership qualities, ethical and moral values, innovative skills through higher education of competitive standards.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)
(Master of Business Administration) is a Two -year Professional Master Degree
program in Business Administration. The objective behind MBA is to equip
students with the Industry and Corporate practices, to become Management
Professionals by imbibing leadership qualities in them. And the program also
aims at enabling the students to develop entrepreneurial skills.
A candidate who has passed Recognized Bachelor’s Degree of
minimum of 3 years duration examination or equivalent examination and
obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects
including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible
for admission to MBA courses. (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and
Category-I of Karnataka
Candidates) (Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka
The admission shall be made as per the reservation policy and
directions issued in this regard from time to time by the Government of
Karnataka (PGCET, KEA) and also as per rules as prescribed by the University
from time to time (UMAT).

Prof. C M Thyagaraja.-
Dr.C.M. Thyagaraja presently holds the responsibility as Chairman, Department of MBA Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi. Prior to this assignment he served as Registrar of Bangalore Central University. He also served Rani Channamma University and Kuvempu University as Registrar Evaluation and initiated Examination reforms which are worth mentioning. He served student community with dedication and highest attention. He also served at Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi as the Director, School of Business and Economics. He is instrumental in Strengthening the Department of Business Administration as a Founder Chairman. He also served as - Member of Syndicate & Academic Council, both the policy making Bodies of Rani Chennamma University. He served Karnataka Vocational Training & Skill Development Corporation, Bangalore as Executive Director and initiated changes in the Institutional Mechanism for skill development of youths in the State of Karnataka.
Dr. C.M. Thyagaraja, hails from Chickmagalur District of Karnataka State. He did his early schooling in Chickmagalur and Graduated and Post – Graduated from Mysore University with Rank in Masters. He also did his Post –Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management with 1st Rank from Kuvempu University. His Research work on “Problems and Prospects of Goods Transport – A Case of Shimoga District” was awarded a Ph.D. by Kuvempu University. He has a rich teaching experience of more than 33 years at Graduate & Post Graduate levels. He has supervised 06 Ph.D Scholars and 05 more are pursuing research.
Dr. C.M. Thyagaraja is the author of 13 books and also authored more than 58 articles which are published at National and International Levels. Major works are – Goods Transport System in India, The Second White Revolution, Dynamics of Human Resource Planning, Managerial Economics – Decisions & Cases. He has carried out UGC funded Research Projects and Submitted Reports. Six of his scholars completed their Doctoral studies under his Guidance. Government of United Kingdom invited him for Round Table on English Language Skills for Employability Think Tank as an Official Visitor. He presented papers in the International conferences at Dubai, Malaysia Singapore and Jakarta.
Dr. C.M. Thyagaraja is a motivator and trainer. He conducted workshops on Leadership, Skill Development, Goal Setting, SWOT analysis, Time Management, Study Skills, Personality Development, Psychometric Analysis, Value Education, and Relaxing Techniques. He participated in National and International Conferences to present papers and to contribute as a Lead Speaker. His lectures have social concern which are well received by society wherein he voiced strongly for Women Empowerment, Environmental Protection, and Development Agenda of Developing Nations, Values for Life, Lasting Biographies and other topics of relevance. He is the member of NSQF, IEA, IMA, ICA, PMA, NAB and other prominent organizations. He is popular for Motivating student community and youth throughout his service. His concern and contribution is well recognized, appreciated and awarded by Academia, Industry and Society.
Dr. S C Patil: Professor.-
Dr. S C Patil is presently (working as Registrar VSKUB Bellary) Professor in PG Department of Business Administration, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi., since 30/11/2014. He is also working as Academic Council Member, Finance Committee Member for Rani Channamma University Belagavi, He has served as Chairman of the department, Estate officer, Director IQAC, Director R & D and RUSA Nodal officer for Rani Channamma University Belagavi.
Basically being technocrat form B V B College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli, served Industry for Four years. Pursued, Post Graduate Studies in Management, from Karnatak University Dharwad. He took up teaching profession at K L E Society’s IMSR Hubli, for Twelve and half years, in which He served as Principal I/c KLE Society’s CBA College for the period of two and half years.
He pursued higher studies from Indian Institute of Management- Ahmadabad (FDP). Have a Doctorial work (PhD) from Shivaji University Kolhapur.
He is also a member Board of Studies, BOAE and Board of Examiner for various state universities, and also Research Advisory Committee member for various reputed journals in the state of Karnataka.
He has to his Credit published around 30 International and National Publication and presented International and Nationally around 40 papers. He has 3 books to his credit.
Dr. N Maruti Rao Professor.-
Deputed to PG Center Vijayapur, He has obtained his M.Com. Degree in 1995, M.Phil. degree in 1996 & PhD degree in 2002. He has attended 4 months Credit Course (FDP) held at Indian institute of Management, Ahmadabad in 2006. He has more than 23 years of teaching experience. His area of research includes Finance, Entrepreneurship and Green Financing. He has Presented research papers in oversee international conferences held at Dubai (USE), Matara (Sri Lanka), Bangkok (Thailand), Kathmandu (Nepal), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Quezon City (Philippines) and Shanghai (China). He has presented 41 research papers in international & national conferences held in India. He has published more than 32 papers. He is life member of Indian Commerce Association, Indian Accounting Association, AIMS-International & Indian Economic Association. He has organized 1 International Conference and 3 National Conferences. He was chairman of Technical Session of 2 International Conferences & 3 National Conferences. He is Member of Editorial Board of 15 National and International Journals and Reviewer for 10 Journals & Reviewed more than 30 Papers. He has completed 1 major research project sponsored by ICSSR. He has received Best Paper Award for presentation of research Papers at International and National Conferences.
Dr. Mahantesh M Kuri: Assistant Professor.-
Dr. Mahantesh M. Kuri is a Commerce Graduate from Karnatak Univesity, Dharwad and an MBA in Finance from Mangalore University, Mangaluru. He was honoured with Gold Medal from Mangalore University for securing First Rank to the university in MBA. He cleared UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) in Management in the year 2000 and was conferred with doctoral degree (Ph.D) in Management in the year 2018 from RCU.
He has a blend of corporate and academic experience of around two decades to his credit. He has served with MNCs like Deutsche Bank Operations International, HCL Technologies Ltd., and ICICI Bank Ltd., in the field of Finance. He has worked with academic institutions like Krupanidhi College, Bengaluru, KLE Society’s IMSR, Hubballi and BVV Sangha’s BIMS, Bagalkote as Finance faculty for MBA, prior to joining RCU. He started his stint as a faculty of finance at PG Department of Business Administration, RCU from 2011.
He is passionate about research and has been awarded with a Major Research Project on Skill Development by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi with a funding of Rs. 10,00,000/- He engages himself in research activities by publishing research articles in national and international journals, participating in conferences and undertaking research projects.
He has been a resource person at UGC- Human Resource Development Centre, Karnatak University, Dharwad and delivered lectures to Assistant Professors at Orientation Program and Refresher Courses several times. He has served as Resource Person and Subject Expert for Management subject at Karnataka State Higher Education Academy, Dharwad and delivered lectures for Assistant Professors of Government colleges during Induction Programs. He has conducted workshops on accounts, finance, capital markets and skill development at various higher education institutions. He has moderated and chaired technical sessions at various conferences.
He has shouldered administrative responsibilities, in addition to academic role like Assistant Registrar of College Development Centre for two years, served as Coordinator of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Study Chair for one year and presently serving as University Nodal Officer of All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE) and University Nodal Officer for UGC.
Dr. Devaraju :
Dr. Devaraju is presently working as an Assistant Professor in PG Dept. of Business Administration, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi since 26th November 2011. Previously he was associated with the Department of Commerce, Karnataka State Open University, Mysore and the University of Mysore. Awarded Junior Research Fellowship from University Grants Commission, New Delhi and awarded cash prize from the esteemed University of Mysore, Mysore on the occasion of Convocation and also awarded Doctoral degree from the same University. Dr. Devaraju has 9 years and 5 months of teaching and 1-year research experience. His areas of interest are Management, Organisational Behaviour, Marketing Management, Counselling and Stress Management, Skill Development and Human Resource Management. He has delivered special lectures in various institutions. He has published Research articles in UGC listed journal and peer-reviewed journals and edited books and presented research papers in the international and national level conference, seminars and was awarded the session’s best paper, was a resource person and chaired session held in India. Presently carrying Major Research Project work sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi. He has attended induction program, pedagogy program, workshop, outbound training programs, and national level conclave at various institutions. He has attended Orientation Program at Academic Staff College, University of Mysore, Mysore and also attended Research Methodology workshop organized by Department of Economics, Karnatak University, Dharwad & ISTE workshop on Introduction to Research Methodologies conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He is actively engaged in coordinating the industrial visits and academic activities of the student’s community. He is a member of the Board of examiners for various universities.
Shri. D. Goutam Asst. Professor :
Shri. D. Goutam is currently working as an Asst. Professor at P. G Department of Business Administration, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, Karnataka. He has completed his MBA in Marketing from M P Birla Institute of Management, Bangalore. He has received UGC Faculty Improvement Program’s Teacher Fellowship to pursue full time Ph. D program at School of Management, NITK Surathkal. He has recently submitted his Ph. D thesis at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. His research interests are Online Retail Management, Consumer Behaviour, Strategic Management, Rural Marketing and Services Marketing. He has published research papers in ABDC, SCOPUS, and UGC indexed journals. He has also presented his work at international conferences held at some of the top-notch institutes of the country like IIMs, and NITs. In addition to this he has also published 3 papers in edited book as book chapters.
