The Department was established in the year 1982 at Gogte College, Belagavi and later shifted to Bhutaramanahatti in the year 1994. It offers Post Graduate and Doctoral Programmes in Commerce. The Department is emphasising on fostering commerce students as human resources by imparting in-depth knowledge on contemporary business issues. The unique and competitive pedagogy of the Department focuses on conceptual learning and analytical skills along with personal, spiritual and social progress of the students.
The Department always stands to support the students in their endeavours to be innovative and competent entrepreneurs. The Department produced more than 2500 Post Graduate students. Our students are serving the society by occupying prominent positions in Corporate, Colleges, and Universities and also by their own business establishments.

two years’ Post Graduate course having four semesters, offered with three specialisations
namely Accounting and Finance, Costing and Banking under ongoing system.
Under CBCS system
four specialisations were offered from the first semester itself viz;

Dr. H. Y. Kamble He is presently Professor and Dean Faculty of Commerce and Syndicate member, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. Prior to this he has worked as Professor of Commerce at Mangalore University, Mangalore and at Karnataka University, Dharwad. He has more than 3.5 decades of teaching experience in post graduate programmes. He has held many coveted positions in the University like Chairman of the Department, Dean of the faculty, Syndicate Member, Academic Council Member and Finance Officer. He is also the trained assessor of NAAC. He has published two books -Goods and Services tax, Human Resources Development in Co-operative Banks and has authored over fifty articles in Professional journals and has delivered invited lectures in National and state level seminars and conferences. He has successfully guided 14 doctoral and 08 M. Phil., Candidates. At present 06 students are pursuing researches under his supervision. His areas of interest are HRD, Finance etc.
Dr S.B. Akash has been in teaching since 1995 to till the date and presently working as Professor. Nine doctoral degrees were produced, out of which two were foreign scholars. More than 100 research papers were published in reputed professional journals. Two major research projects were completed. More than 80 research papers were presented in national and international seminars. Organized few national seminars and workshops, delivered few invited talks in national seminars and many special lectures and also Chaired technical session in few national and international seminars. In addition to that Professor S.B Akash, worked as Chairman Department of Commerce, Kuvempu University, Chairman of Department of Commerce RCU, Belagavi twice, Chairman of BOS BOE, Doctoral Committee and LIC, Academic Council member, Finance Officer RCUB, and presently working as Director for SC/ST Cell, Member of BOA KPSC, University and Collages. Worked as a NSS Programme Officer and Gymkhana President Karnatak University, PG, Centre, Karwar, Also worked as Commerce Course Co-ordinator, Distance Education, Kuvempu University Shivamogga.
Dr. B. S. Navi, Professor
Prof. B. S. Navi, Completed his post-graduation and doctoral degree from the Karnataka Univesity, Dharwad. He served as Principal at MES Islamiya Arts and Commerce College, Belagavi. Later he got appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce at DMS Mandal’s Bhaurao Kakatkar College, Belagavi and took the additional charge of NSS programme officer and Coordinator of PG Department of Commerce. In the year 2013, he got an appointment at Rani Channamma University as Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce. He served as Local Head, Department of PG Studies in Commerce and then as Director at Rani Channamma University, Post Graduate Centre, Vachanasangama Torvi, Vijayapur. He worked as Principal at Rani Channamma University, Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College, Belagavi. Presently working as Professor and Chairman, Department of Commerce and NSS Coordinator, RCU Belagavi. He is a research guide in the department of commerce and has published more than 55 articles in various international and national journals of repute. He is an author of Auditing and Costing Accounting, Techniques of Costing, Financial Accounting-I and II for B.Com and BBA students. Presented papers at International, National and State level seminars. Attended many workshops and various training programmes in his 21 years of service. He is the recipient of State level Best teacher award, Best NSS programme officer from Rani Channamma University and outstanding research paper award at International Conference. He is the life member of All India Commerce Association, All India Accounting Association and Indian Red Cross Society. He is also working as chairman of different bodies of Rani Channamma University such as – Board of Studies, Doctoral Committee, Department Council, etc., His areas of interest are Accounting, Finance, Banking and Industry.etc.
Dr. Sachindra G. R. is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Commerce, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India. Besides, he is also serving as the Assistant Registrar in the Examination section and Assistant Registrar and Nodal Officer for the Right to Information Cell of the University. Hailing from an agricultural family in Shivamogga District, he had his early education in different Institutions in Shivamogga District. He procured his M.Com. Degree in 2010 from Kuvempu University with first class and Ninth Rank, and received a Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in Accounting and Taxation. He was qualified for National Eligibility Test and Junior Research Fellowship when he was in the fourth semester of M.Com. He has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce by Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. He started his teaching career as Lecturer at Kuvempu University in 2010. Later got appointed to the post of Assistant Professor at Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. He has presented a large number of research papers at different national and international level conferences, seminars, and workshops, besides publishing many research papers in journals of repute. He is the Life Member of the Indian Commerce Association, Indian Accounting Association, and Indian Red Cross Society. He has also served as a member of different bodies of Rani Channamma University such as – the Board of Studies, Board of Appointment of Examiners, Board of Examiners, Department Council, etc., His areas of interest are Taxation, Accounting, Finance.
Dr. Ashwini M. Jamuni hails from U. Khanapur of Hukkeri Taluka, Belagavi. She has obtained Bachelor and Master degrees in Commerce (with distinction) from Karnatak University, Dharwad in the year 2008 and 2010 respectively. She has cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) in December-2010. Mrs. Ashwini M. Jamuni has started her career in the year 2010 as a teaching Assistant atthe Department of Commerce, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. Later, she has joined the same department as a Assistant Professor in the year 2012.She has a rich academic career. She has presented many research papers in various National/International conferences. Her area of research involves the most recent issues in Retail Marketing, as a witness to this; she has published her research papers in various reputed journals. Mrs. Ashwini M. Jamuni a member of Board of Studies for P.G. Dept. Of Commerce, she is also department council member, Board of Examination member and member in professional bodies like Life member in All India Commerce Association and Life member in India Accounting Association.
Manjunatha K. is working as an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Studies in Commerce, Rani Channamma University PG centre, Vachanasangama, Toravi, Vijayapur, from January 2012. He studied M.Com at Govt. First Grade College, Davangere in 2011. He cleared NET in 2010, JRF in 2011. He worked as Guest Lecturer in the Department of Studies in Commerce, Davangere University PG centre, Chithradurga in the year 2011. He attended Orientation course and Refresher course at UGC-HRDC, Karnatak University, Dharwad and Bangalore University, Bangalore, respectively. He also attended several workshops, conferences and seminars of state and national level including faculty development programme. He is pursuing Ph.D. in the Department. He has presented several papers in the national level conferences/seminars and published 14 articles in Commerce and Management journals.
Mallikarjun M. Maradi has received his B.Com and M.Com from Karnatak University, Dharwad in the year 2009 and 2011 respectively. He was appointed as Assistant Professor at RCU and served in P G Centres Vijaypura and Jamkhandi. He has more than 8 years of teaching and research experience. He is the Life Member of All India Commerce Association and All India Accounting Association. He is the Editorial Board Member for Global Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies since 2016. He has been awarded State Level ‘Kudmal Rangarao Award’ for Literary work in 2018. He has published more than 35 research papers in peer reviewed international and national journals. Attended more than 50 Conference, Seminar, Workshops and symposiums. Invited as Keynote Speaker, Resource Person for national and State level Workshops. Organised Two National Level Workshops at RCU, PGC, Jamkhandi.
Mrs. Yasmin Begum Nadaf has completed her B,Com., M.Com and MBA degrees. She worked as lecturer in the Department of Commerce and Management in RPA Degree College from 2002 to 2003 and in Sai Degree College Rajajinagar, Bangalore from 2003 to 2004. She worked for B.Com, BBA and M.Com courses in HKE Society’s SVP Degree College, Sadashivanagar Bangalore from 2006 to 2013. Presently working as Assistant Professor since 2013 in the Department of Commerce, RCU Belagavi. She has more than 16 years of teaching and research experience. She worked as Assistant Registrar in Finance Office, RCU for around four years. She has published more than 15 research papers in peer reviewed national and international journals and conference proceedings. She has attended more than 40 seminars and conferences. She has written a book on Industrial Relations.
