Women Empowerment Cell

Women Empowerment is a much discussed phenomenon all over the world. Women Empowerment refers to the creation of an environment for women where they can make decisions of their own for their well being and lead their lives as per their choices which is not antagonistic to the societal needs. Women Empowerment has the power to change many things in the society and country, as women form half the population of the world.

Women Empowerment Cell of Rani Channamma University was established in March 2012 to cater the needs of all lady students and women faculty members of the University and also to empower all the women in every aspect of life.

Through the programmes like Workshops, Seminars, Special lectures, Competitions, Discussions, Extention Activities etc. Cell is trying its best to empower women not only in the University but in the Society at large. Since the beginning of the formation of the Cell, members of the Cell are working together with enthusiasm, with unity and with team spirit to achieve the goal ‘Women Is Human’.

Objectives of the Women Empowerment Cell

  • Make the Women independent in all aspects of mind , thought, rights, decisions, etc.
  • Bringing equality in the society for both male and female members in all areas.
  • Providing women fresh, safe and more capable environment.
  • Elimination of Violence, Stereotypes, and discriminatory practices against women in the society.
  • Making them aware of Socio –political rights.
  • Providing sanitary and health facilities to the students as well as women employees.
  • Providing Vocational Training for rural women
  • Equipping them with adequate skills to make them self-reliant.

Profile of the Women Empowerment Cell

Women Empowerment Cell of Rani Channamma University is established in March 2012 Currently the Cell is functioning under the Presidentship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Shivanand B. Hosamani. All the women faculty of Rani Channamma University are the members of the cell, two students from each department are enrolled as student volunteers of the cell. University Officials are always supportive. Separate budget Head has been created.

Other Related Activities :

  • Deputed two members of Women empowerment Cell namely Ms. PoojaHalyal member secretary, & Dr. Sushama R. to participate in the Women Economic forum-2016 of All Ladies League from 16 to 21 May 2016 at New Delhi.
  • As there is a scarcity of place in the campus; cell has attempted to provide hostel facility for girl students at the various institutions in the city.
  • Evaluated the feed- back forms collected in Orientation Programme& Submitted grievances of girl students to the Registrar, from time to time.
  • Re-constituated the Executive Committee of the Cell by adding student representatives & non-teaching staff
  • Communicated Dr. S. R. NandreTaluka Health Officer for Free Medical Check-up Camp in University & in Bambarga which is the adopted village of the University
  • To underastand their Problems; Cell has made the survey of girls who are staying in government Hostels & for their convenience letter is given to Registrar Office for separate place for girls in the canteen
  • Took initiative in installing Sanitary Napkin vending Machines & Incinerators in the University, Cell is taking care of for further maintainance of the Machine
